Nagging with a smile

What is this? It's a ceramic ashtray in the shape of a human lung.

Something for the smoker's lounge - but would it be nicked, like most other quality fittings?

It's time to buy... Microsoft's opportunistic grab for Yahoo reminds us that stormy times can be a great time to pick up a weakened competitor. You know who they are - the uniforms on their staff look worn, the cleaning is neglected and suppliers are whispering about unpaid bills. And they're in an excellent location. They may not be in enough pain yet to take the low-ball offer you want to make, but it could be time to open communication through a third party (broker or attorney). When we purchased a restaurant some years ago the price was agreed and details were being worked out - the vendors were quietly desperate. Then we found problems with the liquor license that changed our enthusiasm. But the position was very good, so we cut our offer by 50% - and they accepted on the spot! Which means we still paid too much... A great banker, the 1st Baron Rothschild, is said to have advised that the best time to buy is when there's 'blood in the streets'. Do you see any stains on the footpath??
